Anatomy 2: Ano ba yan?

Anatomy starring German actress Franka Potente was an intelligent thriller about a young medical student who goes to an exclusive Heidelberg medical school only to uncover a gruesome conspiracy by the Antihippocratic society conducting human experiments wihtin the school. So finding a DVD of the sequel made me curious how they would go about it this time. Disappointingly, its basically the same story with the lead character now a doctor and also a soccer player who moves to a Berlin hospital to be invited into the same secret society who is conducting experiments on themselves with the use of bionic implants. It's pretty much downhill and predictable after the first few scenes but these are not the reasons why I reviewed this film. When the lead character (Jo) arrives in the hospital and is oriented by a nurse into the dorm; guess what the nationality of the nurse is? Yup.Filipino. Rosie Alvarez plays Lee(strange name for a Filipina) who befriends the lead character and helps him along his fight for his life. When they enter the dorm, Lee says: The whole first floor is occupied by Filipino nurses(in perfect German). They enter the room and voila: the pinays are having a party eating pancit and pancakes(?) and welcome the newcomer.
A minor plot point involved Jo treating a filipino child who had subarachnoid hemorrhage secondary to head trauma and operating on her illegally and the Pinay nurses standing by and trying to prevent people from going into the OR.The funniest scene was when Lee had to remove the bionic implant from Jo's leg. They did it on the kitchen table with OR gowns and all, with the following comments: Oh ayan puwede na ituloy....They open up the guy's leg and the implant jumps out, they all scream: Ano ba yan....parang palaka...That was the funniest dialogue in the movie. All in all disappointing but during the brief moments the Pinays were onscreen made you forget how inane the script had become.Rent it today!
