Sayonara Megamedia the Finale

3. All About Eve
Starring Bette Davis as Margo Channing, the aging stage actress who takes in her wing a seemingly innocent and naive fan, Eve, superbly played by Anne Baxter.Initially, she becomes the reliable assistant who later systematically steals her mentor's lover, role and career. It's actually a "How to Successfully Social Climb" for Dummies. All the actors deserve their Oscar nominations, matched only by Titanic with 14 all in all.

4. Taxi Driver
Directed by Martin Scorcese and written by Paul Schrader, it stars Robert De Niro, in my humble opinion his best performance ever, as a New York City cab driver and Vietnam war veteran who is initially obsessed with a blonde office worker, Betsy(played by Cybill Sheperd). After being turned down, he tries to rescue a child prostitute named Iris(Jodie Foster) from her pimp with disastrous complications. It's a psychological film that delves into urban alienation and how it affects seemingly "normal individuals and what drives them to violence. Scorcese should have been nominated for this film and rightfully should have won. "You talkin to me?"

5.Rashomon
Being in Japan, of course this list would not be complete without a japanese movie in the mix. Akira Kurosawa is one of the most popular and talented japanese film makers and this movie confirms it. It has been described as "ahead of its time", "a work of art" and "complex". All these are true and more. The basic story is that of a samurai and her wife travelling through a forest and meet the bandit. The bandit has her way with the woman and the samurai ends up dead. A monk and a wood cutter tell the story but each version:the bandit's, the woman's and yes...the samurai's (via a medium) vastly differ from each other.Who is telling the truth then? Well the truth is not what is seems. I can only think of one japanese word to describe it: sugoi.
